Grief, loss and divorce recovery

You may be experiencing grief because of the recent loss of a loved one and need extra support during this difficult season.

For some, the grieving process is straightforward, they come through it, and are able to move on with their lives. For others, the process is more complicated due to multiple losses, the severity of the loss or uncertainty of the loss.

I have helped people through all kinds of grief including tragic death and suicide. I have also had to work through grief and loss in my own life and draw from my personal experience.

Types of Grief and Loss: Miscarriage or loss of a child; loss of a spouse, mother, father, grandparent, relative, or close friend; a painful separation or divorce; abandonment by a parent, relative or close friend; facing the empty nest; loss of ability through a disability or illness; and loss of your job or forced to retire.
Children: In my extensive work with children I have helped them process through grief and loss. I provide a safe place were they can express their feelings, and I involve the parents in the process.
Divorce Recovery: A separation or divorce can be one of the most painful experiences a person can through. I understand the feelings and challenges associated with this difficult transition, and have a lot of experience helping people work through the healing and recovery process so they can move on with their lives.
Approach to Therapy: The important thing when you have experienced loss is that you have someone to listen to and understand what you are going through as you process through the grief.  Through education I help people understand why they have the symptoms they are experiencing. For those who are stuck in complicated grief we examine why and work on ways to move through to acceptance. For some they experience deep sadness, but for others this sadness may become depression. When a person has become depressed we work on ways to overcome this and move on with your life. When ready, we explore how you can grow from the experience and find new purpose in life.
